Best? Format it. It erases everything.

However, you can also try Norton (which I prefer) or McAfee (which seems to be the most popular).

But keep in mind that no antivirus, no matter how good, is going to catch everything and delete it. Hackers are inventing new ways every minute of every day to cause you a great big headache and the antivirus is only as advanced as the makers are able to catch these new ones and create an antidote.

However, this isn't part of mythology and folklore and it should have been put in the computer section of YA where you can get proper answers.

What do you mean by the 'best way' and why are you asking that in Mythology & Folklore? Do you have an imaginary laptop?

The surest way to remove a virus, if it will let you, is reformat your hardrive and start over.

May not be the best way for your purposes, however.

If you are going to reformat then its a good idea to also use a disc clean program like acronis, as some viruses can stay on your hard drive even after you have reformatted.

The best way is to totally purge your computer. You will lose all the information that you have saved. and that is why you are suppose to make back-up disk. I am sorry but that is the only way that will assure you that the virus is gone.............................
