Hot and cold foods based on Chinese Medicine are not based on their temp, but rather on their effect on the body. Foods high in calories, like potatoes, provide more energy to the body, and are considered hot. Foods with low calories (think celery) are considered cold. An example of a neutral food (somewhere in between) is fish.
"A person diagnosed with being too hot (common ailments characterized by /identified as overheating, anxiety, constipation and other binding conditions) may eat too many saturated fats and sugars that are highly caloric. Salty foods are hot, sweet foods are cold, as a general rule. Protiens are extremely hot (such as meat) fats are just hot. Carbs, vitamins and minerals are cold, and sugar is extremely cold. Water helps blend the two together so you need to drink lots of it to maintain balance.
Physical labor makes your body need hot foods, mental labor makes your body need more cold foods. Not so much to do with temperature as it has to do with the way your body uses the energy.

Do you mean actual temperature? If so, this is a stupid question, but, some cultures label foods hot or cold and it has nothing to do with temperature or spice. If that's what you mean, check this out . . .
