One Word: LinkSys.....it is now a division of Cisco.

The most stable device I've seen. Mine has been up for quite some time....only restarted with the occasional power blips, but never a problem with lost connections........and I have 2 stacked in series!

Hello,
I also have the same problem with a different router. It kept getting more and more frequent. I called D-Link and they had me install the latest firmware with certain internet connection settings. Now the router only restarts about every 4 hours or so. It is still very irritating to be kicked off AIM during a very important conversation.
In conclusions i recommend calling Belkin and telling them your situation.

To make sure it's the router and not the internet connection causing the problem, you can just unplug your router, and plug one of your computers in directly. If it seems to go work fine from them on, your internet connection's fine.

Network equipment sold in the less than $100 range does have some limitations. There are two I keep in mind.
1- Overly high quality standards drive the price up. Extremely high quality equipment is usually over $1000, and people buy it for a reason. For home use, I buy affordable equipment myself, 95% of the units are going to be perfectly fine, and I can handle the occasional trade-in.
2- Occasionally, people put a small router on a large internet pipe. If you're regularly filling a 2mb pipe, you can burn out a home router.

Your router may not be the problem.
I know not, if you have a wireless or direct connect unit.
Basicly, your signal cones into what ever kind of modem you have, and then into ypur router, than to your PC.

If your internet signal from your ISP dissapears, the rest of your system will go nutts looking for it.
Yes, there is a very slight chance you may have a bad router, but their pretty well checked over be fore they leave the factory.

You may want to try your friends system and see how your PC acts connected to his., or just go and get a new replacement

I took 10 hours straight trying to get me belkin working and eventually found out the actual unit was faulty. If the helpline can't figure it out try getting the unit exchanged and try again from scratch.

You have my sincere sympathies from a network problem vet!

I have not had a problem like this, but would not reccomend using anything by belkin for networking or internet access.

Netgear or D-Link products are far superior.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Belkin. Junk it and get a Linksys. Seriously. It's the best $50 I ever spent and the only thing that works for me every time.
