So I was due yesterday, I've asked so many questions; I tested high on the blood sugar tests both 1 and 3 hour, I see spots in front of my eyes, severe chest pains, extremely bad waves of back pain and I'm 100% effaced. This is all that they have told me and when I ask questions I get told "don't worry, its perfectly normal."
If its perfectly normal then why are my instincts screaming at me to do something different. I instincts are screaming at me to go to another doctor but is it to late? Should I just go in to the ER? I'm extremely worried. Yes this is my first child and my due date wasnt off. In fact I might be more than a week late because of the size of the baby.
I am just extremely worried and nervous, thanks for putting up with me!

Yes I am asking if my doctor is a chowder head because in all of my visits with him, I have never seen him more than 5 minutes even when I state that I have several questions and need him to answer but he won't ever talk to me.
I guess he would be what I would consider to be a chowder head.

REPEAT AFTER ME: It is NEVER too late to change care providers. You can change care providers all the way up until the baby is born! Quick, call a couple girlfriends and ask for a referral to another Dr. (one they liked), call and set up an appointment and switch. Is it possible that all of this is normal and you shouldn't worry? Sure! Is it possible that YOU know your body better than the Dr. does and even though he's the professional, you should follow yoru instincts? YES!
Also consider that this is YOUR pregnancy and YOUR baby, and YOUR body and you need to feel comfortable and confident in the standard of care being given to you and your family.

girl, I was scared to death when I was pregnant the first time. people told me it would get better the further along I got, it didn't it just made me have more questions. It is very scary. the baby will be born alot sooner if you start taking walks, I know it's not thte easiest thing to do right now, but, even if you just go to Walmart and walk, it'll help. Your sugar is way up and probably blood pressure too if you are seeing spots, but, just keep a check on those. they will get betteras soon as the baby is born. The back pains could mean the baby is just so heavy that it is hurting your back. They will usually give you 2 weeks after your due date, before they even consider inducing labor, because they could be off on the due date a little. You don't need to go to the ER unless you are in labor, or your sugar or blood pressure get worse. Good Luck. M

Due yesterday means you may not deliver for another 14 days. Testing high blood sugar at this stage of pregnancy isn't unusual. Because this is your first child you are unfamiliar with what might be normal pains. I was so big with both my pregnancies that people thought I should be due to deliver at six months. My son was 9 pounds. I hurt in places I didn't even know I had. My back hurt. I couldn't breath properly. And both of them were stretchers so you could see a clear outline of the baby in my gut on my gut. A perfectly round head on my left side and perfectly formed feet on the right side. I moaned and whimpered a lot. I feel your pain. But be calm. This will pass and in a very short time (even though it doesn't feel like it now) it will all be over.

Calm down honey... back pain is normal but I've had two children and never did I see spots in front of my eyes or get severe chest pains. If you are really concerned, I say go to the ER. There is no reason for you to continue being this stressed out.. its not good for the baby. And yes you can change Dr at any time. I changed dr with my first when I was 39 wks. You shouldn't be seeing spots or having bad chest pains. I can see the back pains (could be the start of back labor) and if I was you, I'd hit the ER right away. Tell them you don't want to call your doctor because you're not feeling that comfortable with him/her. There should be at least one other doctor on duty that can tell you what's going on.
With this being your first baby, they usually are late but go with your instincts. If it is nothing, they'll send you home.

Your doctor is a chowder head. Fire him. I just fired mine and went to a different doc today and I must say I am thrilled. She listened to our concerns,and explained everything to us. In fact our appointment was at 10:15 and we didn't leave there until 11:40. But at least when we left I felt like everything was going to be alright. (I looked at other questions of yours and the spots in front of your eyes could also be blood pressure problems.) Hopefully you can find a new doctor before you get pregnant again. I don't know when you will get this because my fingers are crossed you have your baby today!!! Good luck

I'm a little confused...you wonder if a doctor who has been to 4 years of undergraduate school, 2 - 4 years of medical school, has served 1 - 3 years as an intern, and is now a practicing physician is a chowder head.
You want to know if the doctor who has delivered many healthy babies and taken good care of many mothers through their pregancies and has developed a doctor-patient relationship with you and has met with you and cared for you throughout this pregnancy is a chowder head.
And you ask this of medically untrained people on a website you don't know who could just as easily be child molesters and murderers as friends.
Who's the chowder head?

You are the best judge of how you are feeling. I would trust my instincts. Back pain can be a sign of labor. I had it before stomach contractions started. You should call your doctor again. If he doesn't take you seriously, go to the ER. Good luck!!

I'd hang around the emergency room if I were you with a large bottle of water. High blood sugar, chest pains, etc...?? Voice your concerns in the nearest ER. Good luck. Peace.

I would go to the ER, and stress the fact that you are seeing spots. This could mean that your blood pressure is high. And if you check out fine there then atleast you will know everything is ok.
