Many people have a practiced line when it comes to certain issues. Meaning that they see trigger words that set off a spiel in their head. You didn't say what they thought you said, they just heard you use certain words and they explode in a flurry of thoughtless accusations. Illegal is illegal. Each illegal act has a consequence. Someone suffers whether it be the individual or the country and therefore all individuals. You have the right to your opinion and a right to speak. Practise your rights.

Being against illegal immigration certainly doesn't make you a racist in my opinion.I've known people who were heavily against it who certainly weren't racist.
I haven't formed a stand on the subject myself but truth is in all fairness and logic you can be against illegal immigration without being a racist.
I'm sure racists are against it as well but taking that as a tool to label all anti illegal immigration people as rascists is the kind of intellectually false argument one needs to avoid in any honest debate.

If this really has nothing to do with race, then why are we only talking about building a wall along the Mexican border? Why not the Canadian border, after all that is where some of the 9/11 hijackers crossed into the US?

Forget the illegals and their opinions. NY mayor Bloomberg, who is a white, said economy would collapse if all illegals are suddenly removed. There are way too many people and businesses that survive solely on cheap illegal labor.
