Id' say it's pretty good. Sure you probably have some genius in your school who got something much higher and will have his or her pick of Ivy League schools. But I only got like a 1270 and I got into nearly every school I applied to then went to college and got a 3.5 GPA all the way through. Then went on to do very well on the GRE and got accepted to all of the graduate schools I applied to. I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying that the SAT isn't exactly the best measure of future success. The SAT is one snapshot of your life thus far. Most colleges try to look at the big picture of who you are and try to measure your dedication, work ethic, responsibility, and overall potential. Don't stress yourself about one test.

And if you are just DYING to take it again take the ACT instead. Many universities are preferring this score instead.

You're roughly a slightly better-than-average student.

Based on SAT scores alone:
You won't be getting into any Ivies. You might also have trouble getting into great state schools (UCLA, UNC-CH, Penn State, etc.). You'd be a competitive candidate at smaller colleges and less prestigious univiersities as well as most state schools.

If this is the first time you took that SAT, definitely take them again. Buy a practice book with sample tests beforehand, and do at least three tests before test day. You score should improve by around 100 points I'd guess and maybe up to 300 points.

Also, if you're better at "book knowledge" than at "reasoning and inference," consider taking the ACT. The ACT tends to be easier for students who don't like wishy-washy answers and want concrete and definite answers.

Perfect score is 2400, so essentially you scored around 73% which is about average. Depending on the schools to which you're applying and your GPA and other credentials you may want to take the SAT over if you think you can do better.

It depends on what type of colleges you're applying to. You scores would get you into an "slightly above-average" college if your grades and stuff are consistent.

And 65-70% is actually "average"
