Oh, my, no. I've read a great book on the subject written by a Japanese journalist, if you can believe that, who ventured through the path of destruction to interview those who survived. Such atrocities are never justified. The Japanese saw the Chinese as animals, lower than animals, and what they did to them was horrible and disgusting.

Absolutely not. What is offensive is the flat refusal of the Japanese government to even admit that it happened, let alone atone or even apologize. I suggest The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang to anyone who wants to learn about this atrocity.
