if its a NA engine, it cant take much, turbo engines have special pistons and cranks to handle it

Ford makes a 3.8 v6 in the T-bird SC 89-94 with factory supercharger that runs 9 lbs, at 210 hp :)

If it is a GM engine. This is a strong engine. the same basic engine was used in the 1986 - 1987 Buick Grand National Regal. It ran reliably at 15Lbs of boost. A limited edition version of it, the G.N.X. ran at 17 Lbs of boost. The engine would have to have lower compression ratio pistons if you plan to run pump gas. The newer cars have super chargers and run at around 10 Lbs of boost. You could probably get the pistons for one of these engines.

Looks like 15-17 psi.
