In the sky before or after a rainy day

Fog can be found anywhere.

The foggiest place in the world is the Grand Banks off the island of Newfoundland, Canada. Fog is frequent here as the Grand Banks is the meeting place of the cold Labrador Current from the north and the much warmer Gulf Stream from the south. The foggiest land areas in the world are Point Reyes, California and Argentia, Newfoundland, both with over 200 foggy days a year.

Well,
Fog comes from when you have a cold front moving in. When this happens, the cold air condences the water molecules closer together making it heavier. To get a really good area of the world that is really foggy, go to Britain. Because of the North Atlantic current in the Ocean, the warm current makes way for a foggy day in Britain a lot. This current being one of the largest in the world comes right down as far as the tropics. This is also why when you go to watch the weather, you notice that a hurricane will follow along the coast of the US and then it makes its way up toward Britain, however, as it goes more North, the colder it gets, the hurricane needs warmth and moisture to become stronger. So, since it needs that, it follows this powerful current. And I say all this because it proves that this current exists and that it goes toward Britain. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Wee Man.

LONDON
Seriosly no kidding. I live there. There was fog this morning.

But really fog usually appears as a form of air pollution. In the times of Victorian Britain, just during industrialisation, there was really bad fog because of the pollution caused by the factories. So anywhere with lots of (old style) factories and industrial cities would have more fog.

There is a differnece between mist and fog. Mist is water vapour that condenses in the air. Therefore you find mist in more areas with lots of water vapour.

Fog is more prevalent in areas that are near bodies of water. Fog can also form after it has rained in pretty much any place at certain times.
For a detailed explanation of the foggiest places and details about how fog is formed go to the link I am posting.

Near any body of water because it results from the temperature difference between the air and the water. Especially when the air is colder than the water.
