I prefer Koontz. As someone else said, Koontz's work is more 'touched' by the supernatural than outright supernatural. I like that. Koontz digs into the human cesspool while delivering a wonderfully suspenseful plot. He's also quite funny, and I much prefer his writing style to King's.
I do enjoy Stephen King, though. He has a bluntness that Koontz lacks. A tendency to hammer the truth home with plain language, whereas Koontz will often perform a long, elegant dance with his point. Anyway, definitely Koontz for me.

Neither or both. I like King but his writing material and style are different from Koontz's. King is more straight out horror while Koontz is more "touched" by the super-natural than outright super-natural. Pet Semetary, It, and the Stand were all outstanding. However so was Dragon tears, Intensity, Tick-Tock and others. I'll read them both any day.

At one time I would have said King....then, I would have said Koontz...now they are both good. I do prefer to read Koontz, I think he's a little more original, and a lot less predictable than King.

They both have kind of gotten into the habit of just pushing out books without much thought to the content. I really enjoyed Koontz's earlier stuff. Watchers was one of his best books -hands down- and really hooked me. Then I read the Husband... or something like that it was so bad I wanted to return the book.
I think that over all King has been much more reliable and I have certainly never been so dissapointed that I wanted to return it. LOL

I am partial to King! He does weave a wonderful story...especially when he weaves in parts from other stories (like the Crimson King). Only problem I have with Stephen King is that his endings kinda fizzle. They leave me feeling cheated somewhat. Koontz is good and his endings are nice but they don't have the spark that King has.

certainly Stephen King. maximum human beings understand Stephen King as a horror author (The Stand, It) and understand of one or 2 different issues he has written like the eco-friendly Mile or the Gunslinger sequence, however the actuality is that there are alot of alternative issues he has written like Eyes of the Dragon and the lady Who enjoyed Tom Gordon that are very distinctive. Eyes of the Dragon is so conventional which you will no longer even discover it anymore. authentic followers or "consistent Readers" as King calls them, snap up each and every replica they are able to get their hands on. the 1st version is particularly worth approximately $seven hundred U.S. impressive now. Stephen King is a real grasp of his craft. He can write something he gadgets his techniques to. The Gunslinger sequence is likely one in each and every of the main conventional sequence ever written and it particularly is likely one in each and every of the optimal incomes horror books written in the final 50 years. Dean Koontz is amazingly solid, yet he will in no way be Stephen King.

Koontz sucks. I read one of his books and it was complete garbage. I don't even remember the name of it, it's been so long. But the "twist" was about as stupid as you could get.
King rocks! He's multi-talented... engaging...
