Well, if the marriage was strictly for immigration purposes why couldn't your mate marry you? I mean afterall, you are already together. I think there must have already been something going on or you are leaving a lot of details out, because the whole situation (as you have stated it here) doesn't make any sense!

Assuming you're serious, if you're married the second marriage is invalid (bigamy) and the immigrant involved might get deported or charged with a crime. But even if you're not married, it was wrong of your mate to do it at all and one has to wonder if there was a trade-off involved.

Find a new mate. He/She is not trustworthy, and I would not believe it was just for immigration purposes, and besides this is illegal. So I think your mates ethics are way out of wack. Just my opinion. God bless****
