bettas are SIAMESE and NOT CHINESE fighting fish! Heck, bettas were NEVER from China. They're natives of South East Asia.

my badd. To tell you the truth- I thought they were actually called JAPANESE fishting fish! But when I went to the petstore and got my fish, the contaner label said it was a CHINESE fighting fish.. and one of my freind's did too. But thanks for telling me what it really is! Now I won't feel stupid saying the wrong name!

If you have the female and male in the same tank, they could probably get along fine, but you are gonna be a grandparent after about a few days because they will definantly mate. I would try to get a divided tank to keep them permanantly instead, they are cheap and the fish can look at eachother and still be divided. Hope this helps!!!!

no, it will not work, ever. the only thing this might accomplish is making them mate, and then the male would chase and eventually kill the female. they must be kept separately. if you would like to put bettas in with her get other female bettas, just no less than three females together. two females together will fight. I have 8 female bettas in a tank together, but you need 2 gallons for every female, so if it's a 10 gallon tank 4 or 5 female bettas would be okay.

no tank is big enough because they will eventually run into each other. and females don't go into heat, they get "excited" when males are around and displaying for them, then they'll get vertical lines on their bodies and that means they want to mate. but it's not easy mating them and if you don't know what you're doing both will most likely wind up dead.

Listen 2 Kylie Ann, that's the best answer. And Sabresquirrel is right about the tank being too big. After all, their natural habitats are ditches and puddles in the shallow waters of rice fields. I'm just answering to tell you that bettas are SIAMESE and NOT CHINESE fighting fish! Heck, bettas were NEVER from China. They're natives of South East Asia.

It's unlikely to work with out a huge 60+ gallon tank, and maybe not even then. The only people who I know who have made this work are breeders who raise them together, and remove all but the mildest of males. Most likely when you put them together they will mate, produce 100s of offspring, and then the male will kill the female. In nature they live in shallow ponds, rice paddy, and slow moving streams. A male and female only see each other for mating. In a fight the loser swims off to another part of the pond.

not a good idea...fish eventually need space, especially beta if you want them to grow big and beautiful. just go to your local pet store....they have smaller tank like containers that have a divider down the center, you can still have them together and stuff...there is just going to be a divider between them so they dont fight right away....it might take them a week or even a month to adjust to their new home so you dont want to create more stress by puting them in with eachother just after a little while....try the tank with the divider in it...see how that goes and wait like a month to think about puting them in w/eachother. see how they behave and adjust to their tanks. then, if they are fine and dont have a problem being next to eachother, try puting them together, if there are any signs of discomfort between any fish separation is needed so htey wont die...good luck, hope this helped

Do NOT keep two bettas together. Bettas are SOLITARY fish, it doesn't matter if they are two females, two males or a male and female. The ONLY time you can put two together, is for breeding, and that will only last for the time it takes spawning to occur. Even in that short time, many females are injurred in breeding.

The only way this would acceptable, is with a tank bigger than 50 gallons.

They will not get used to each other. Their presence will only result in each one getting stressed and quite possibly injured.

If you want tank mates for your betta, consider some african dwarf frogs, or a mystery snail. Or a school of neon tetras or harlequin rasboras if your tank is over 10 gallons.

Or, just have two separate betta tanks. Keeping them both together is a recipe for disaster.

this is a great idea. I would try to occasionally mix the waters too, pour a little of her container water in the fish tank and let a little of the water from the fish tank pour into her tank, this will help your male get used to the new area. Fish can react pourly to being quickly changed from one surrounding to another.
Just make sure you have another solution, if this one doesn't work out and if you do decide to put them together, be sure to monitor them for the first couple hours. i.e. don't dump them together and go off to work.

merely like each and every regular fish, you feed them every day (the two once or twice an afternoon). be attentive to advice: once you bypass to p.c.. out your betta, get the main lively one you come across. in the event that they seem to be they are attempting to get on the betta in the field next to it, it particularly is large! particularly, it particularly is. This exhibits that they are in actuality healthful, and that they wont be lazy on your tank/aquarium =] Bettas will consume flakes, yet they do LOVE their bloodworms.

Unless the female is ready to breed, they will usually fight just like two males would fight, though there are always individuals who are exceptions.

you can only do this if your tank is BIG so that the fish can have their own territories..if not they will kill eachother..unless the female is in heat
