I saw a few cases of that with an elderly man who was wearing a long sleeved shirt with the collar buttoned and saw the waffle weave pattern of thermal underwear through the opening in the sleeve cuff. Does anyone have a story of someone wearing long underwear in the summer?

I suppose some elderly people who have poor circulation feel cold even when it's hot outside. Or the elderly man you saw may have been suffering from dementia. I've even seen people wearing coats in the summer time, but they could have been homeless people and the only way they could carry their wardrobe was on their backs. The only way you'd know for sure if older people wear long underwear in the summer, is to take a survey, because I sure don't know.

My great-grandfather used to wear a t-shirt, long-sleeved undershirt, sweatshirt, and then a flannel shirt during the summer! I can't remember ever seeing him outside during the winter. I don't think he had enough clothes to do it!
