I have an Angel on the top of my primary tree. It's what was on top of my parents' tree growing up and that's just another way to carry on the traditions of Christmas.
I have other trees that either have nothing on top or stars.
I try to make the religious aspect of Christmas ring true through all of my decorations.

Yes I celebrate Christmas and last year I had a star but I lost a majority of my christmas decorations except for a very few that I packed when I was forced to move out of my last apt. so this year I remembered how much trouble that I had with balancing the star on top of the tree so I decided on a beautiful Santa tree topper this year when I had to get all new decorations.

Well I celebrate Christmas but growing up with my Mom's religion (Church Of Christ) they feel that its inappropriate to go around saying that its Jesus' Birthday when that was never confirmed what exactly the date was and to put a Star or Angel on the Tree is sort of Weird and insulting to Jesus
So we put a Snowflake Tree Topper on the Tree
I dont follow any Organized Religion anymore - I consider myself very Spiritual but Its just kinda stuck with me to do that - dont ask me why -LOL

We used to have a fiber-optic angel on the top of our tree, but a couple of years ago we bought a pre-decorated tree and it has a big red bow with poinsettias as a topper.

we have always had an angel. my nana bought it years ago and now my husband and I have it atop our tree. nana passed away a few years ago, but I always have a part of her with my every Christmas. I dont think I could ever have a star now.

i've never had a tree with a star or an angel....
i always had a tree with an old fashioned (victorian maybe) blown glass type ornament on top

I have an aluminum red tree (yes a red tree...not green lol). My topper is a red tin star with gold lights.
