How do I get streaming video to play smoothly?

I'm trying to watch a show from abc.com, but the video stops every couple of minutes. I've tried restarting it, and I've tried skipping past the parts that are stopped up (it won't let me). What's going on?

Get quicktime from www.apple.com and make it your standard video player on the internet. what it does is first downloads all the video in a temporary folder and then plays it
