How do I get my XM Satellite system to work in my office building? I work on the fourth floor of an eight story building, more towards the center of the building. Is there any way to get this thing working other than in my car???

Follow up - this is based on the assumption that the company I work for will not let me "drill holes" anywhere and does not allow internet access. Am I SOL?

If there is not a terrestrial repeater in your area, you will need to have a clear view to the southwest, south or southeast sky (depending where you are in the country) in order to receive XM in your building. There are extension cables available. Perhaps you can run the wire above the ceiling panels if you have a drop ceiling in order to get the antenna close to a south facing window. There are wireless antenna extensions but they work only about 50 feet. Sirius' signal comes from a northerly direction but more overhead. If Sirius has a repeater closer to you than XM you might have a chance picking up a signal with them. You can buy a Sirius radio at best buy, don't activate it, just take it in and try to get a signal on the preview channel 184. If you can't then just bring it back to get your money back. Both XM and Sirius have online streaming, but many companies block this.

With Sirius you can listen to music on-line. They block the broadcast stations like News and Talk.
