I had a hexagon fish tank that I had to turn into a terrarium. It was extremely difficult to regulate the ammonia level and the fish were short-lived. Maybe try starting with some feeder gold fish to accumulate the beneficial bacteria, but I would recommend sticking with a rectangular tank.

Think of the hex as almost the same as a rectangle. The only difference will be that the surface area and footprint of the hex are smaller than a rectangle tank's would be with the same amount of water. Therefore, you should probably avoid fast swimming fish that like to move around a lot. Also, to have a nice-looking tank, be sure to stock fish that like to swim at all levels of the tank, not just the top for example. Hexes can look empty if all your fish stay in only one area.

Any small and non-territorial fish can live in a hex tank, but because there is a lack of swimming space and surface area, the tank should be more lightly stocked then its rectangle counterpart - for example, when stocking a 28 gallon hex, treat it more like a 20 gallon rectangle. These tanks look nice for show, but aren't terribly practical.

I got the Hex- 5 5gallon tank. Not sure if that is what you're talking about but I have 2 guppies, 1 cory cat and a neon tetra. I am waiting to get semi-aggressive fish instead of a tropical community fish. In other words, really any type of fish can go in their as long as it isn't too big. Hope this helps and good luck!!!!

Depends on how big the tank is, honestly. I used to keep a 1gallon show tank with a gold fish a couple years back. If it's bigger than 20 gallons, any type of fresh water aquarium fish. Just be sure to have a good filter.
