I'm sure they are....I just want to know why.

Why? Because Kobe is the best player on the planet. They might not win the most regular season games. But everyone knows you need superstars to carry you through the playoffs. Look at what Wade did last year carrying the heat and beating the "better" and deeper Dallas team. The fact is that superstars that steal a game here and there can change an entire series. And having that superstar in clutch situations can also shift an entire series. Now that Lamar is playing with some confidence, and the Lakers finally having SOME depth, they can make a serious run. Maybe a midseason trade will help too. But the Lakers will be one of those darkhorse teams that noone wants to face in the playoffs.

I am a Lakers fan(moreso a Kobe fan) to the heart BUT despite their tremendous start and the fact that Kobe is getting more confidence in his knee and they will be better this year than last year, I don't think they can go all the way because they don't have a solidified post presence. Honestly, do you really think Andrew Bynum or Kwame Brown can handle somebody like Tim Duncan (who has a chip on his shoulder) in the playoffs? But if everyone, especially Lamar Odom and Luke Walton (who is nearly 70% from the 3 point line!!!) keeps playing the way they are, you are right, they can beat anybody. Not sure if they are solid enough defensively and their only flaw right now is they can become 3 point shot happy like they did the other night against Milwaukee when they lost. But keep hope alive!!!!

Because 2 years from now they probably WILL win it all. But right now they don't have enough great players. Aside from Kobe & Lamar, they are a very average team- the Spurs, Suns and Mavericks are all better than this year's Lakers.

They will be fun to watch, and should make the 2nd round of the playoffs. Once the Lakers make a deal to get one more star player- look out! That's when they'll be championship contenders again.

The new Ball in the NBA, and Kobe's Hot Scoring Streak.

Kobe doesn't get his team involved, and they can't make it through Dallas, spurs, suns, jazz. Just because kobe got lucky against the jazz once doesn't mean he can beat them in a seven game series. I wish the referees wouldn't bail him out just because he is kobe. And stop your complaining kobe. All you do is complain the entire time.
