It seems that a lot of people on here feel that it's unpatriotic to question our president. It also seems that there are quite a few that stand behind him simply because he is our president.

Wouldn't we all be British if we didn't question our government...

It's not unpatriotic, to question the government is a central part of democracy. Unfortunately there our a lot of ignorant people who can't argue their side and instead attack people. If you look at oaths of office and the Pledge of Allegiance, the only thing we swear to do is uphold the constitution and it ideals. We don't swear allegiance to the government, much less any of its officers.

It isn't. He is a human being, or at least he was the last time I checked. Therefore he can make mistakes, as he has. He enables things to happen which require questioning. It is not at all "unpatriotic" to question this sitting president, now a Lame Duck, soon to be former President.

(humm. someone says it is unpatriotic NOT to support the president. humm No matter who he is? humm. do not agree. If I dislike the president and his policies I am not unpatriotic. I am patriotic with a strong dislike for the president's policies. That is the way I see it.)

I don't know why is unpatriotic. I've heard that in a democracy, you can say your opinion about the government. I also observed that some people think a government is the country.

It is not unpatriotic to question Bush or his actions. What is unpatriotic is to refer to him as a Nazi ,Satan ,ignorant, an idiot etc... He is our Commander and Chief. We have American soldiers fighting on foreign ground . These soldiers are our family members , friends and neighbors , some of which will die fighting under or flag . Our enemy's use the media ,as vast and accessible as it is now with the Internet , cable news , cable TV , etc.. , to further their agenda of spreading anti-American rhetoric . It empowers them when they can quote Americans who are showing contempt and hate for our leader . There is a big difference in questioning and disagreeing versus the raw contempt some are so willing to share with our enemies... When your words empower our enemies , THAT is unpatriotic......

It's not unpatriotic to question but it is unpatriotic not to support The President no matter who it is.

And as far as the British comment. Go and discover your own country and run it how you want.

For Georgina not all Americans are idiots, like us, your country must have it's own share of morons too.

It isn't unpatriotic. I think people are confusing dissent with disrespect and those are two very different things.

If at all you could question anyone, it must the President. After all, he is the leader of 300 million people. In a way, he controls most of the affairs of the whole world, either directly or indirectly. Such enormous responsibilities should not be immune from questioning.

As a matter of fact, this is AMERICA and therefore, it is very patriotic to exercise our rights to question the government when we feel they are steering us in the wrong path. Don't let others keep you down.

because there is a wide section of this country that seems to confuse fascism and democracy. One allows for descent the other does not. See if you can figure which is which and if you do, you are probably a liberal.

I am still trying to find a single one of them that didn't avail themselves of our freedoms and use them to attack Bill Clinton.
