In the ancient times of Ireland during the Celtic period the people believed in two main Gods. The main female Goddess's name was Briget(different spellings exist) and her male counterpart was Herne(he may have had other names too). Herne had many duties (like Greek and Roman gods) and one of them was Protectorate of Children. He lived in the forest and mothers when their children were unwell would bring the children to the woods. They would seek a remedy to heal their sickly infant by either leaving an offering or sometimes they would place the child in the largest badger den that they believed Herne resided. Herne was known to deliver gifts to the children at their homes. He was known to dress in long robes(similar to Santa's dress of today) and wore a Brier of holly in his hair shaped like a crown. When the Christians arrived they moulded Celt beliefs into their religion to make the conversion easier and more people willing to convert. When it came to Herne they "created" both Santa Clause and Satan(hooved feet and horns because of Herne's woodland life). Also during the Sumhain there was the battle between two lesser Gods representing Holly and Oak. Every year they battle as the turning of seasons, every time Holly wins and the year begins again. If Oak was ever to win the year would not be able to begin again-neither God would die or dies in this process. In conclusion it was the Christians that created the Santa Claus we are fimiliar with, but the holly, yule log and gift giving to children came from ancient Celtic folklore.

Neither. Santa Claus is consistent with a actual individual - Saint Nicholas who became right into a bishop interior the 4th century who gave presents anonymously to unfavourable human beings you will locate that, in many international locations, Saint Nicholas nonetheless brings presents on his dinner occasion day, December 6th, and nonetheless sounds like a bishop. usa became him into Santa Claus. The Easter bunny isn't particularly Christian, does no longer function in any church traditions and is favourite greater often than not contained in usa and, because of the fact the unique Easter Hare, in Germany. usa became him right into a rabbit, an Easter bunny. So Christians did no longer invent the "Santa Claus" or "Easter bunny" myths. human beings invented them by, as they so oftentimes do, messing up human beings's history and way of existence. there is fairly NO information that the two is something in besides to do with any pagan faith. the story of pagan origins is yet another American fantasy.

Santa Claus is an amalgam from several cultures. The name is German (SANTA niCoLAUS) who was a bishop in Germany in the 13th Century who left food for good children and coal for those who were bad. But France, Norway and Russia have their own versions of what St.Nickolaus was. But the Santa as we know it today was melted together in the good ole melting pot, the USA in the 1800's.

Santa Claus or St Nicholas was a 4th century Bishop from Turkey. I wouldn't say he was invented rather born.

Santa's an invention?? (howl of anguish). All these years I really believed he existed (screams of despair). My twilight years are doomed (painful groans). To the person/s who has/have ruined my life - I hope the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy get you for this.
