ok. my uncle and i were really close, but when he tried to commit suicide, it's awkward between us. he didnt die. he was very lucky, but what can i do to make it better between us?

The fact that you are asking this question indicates to me that the two of you were not as close as you say. When you are close to someone you will know how to react, and you will also know what to say regardless of the situation.

i dont understand how it is awkward between u and ur uncle. But i think you should just be there for him and tell him suicide is not the answer. Maybe you should inform him that he his loved and it is doing more harm than good by taking his life. When you talk to him be understanding toward his feelings about his view of life and the emotions he is feeling. just try to be positive and give him other options rather than death.

Sit down w/ him and have him try to explain why he tried. I'm sure you are hurt because you are close and suicide seems to be a very selfish act, but you don't know why he tried, obviously something he felt he couldn't deal w/ anymore. Rejecting him now especially if you were close may be another breaking point, try to get him to confide in you, if your were as close as you say you were you need to try to understand and let him know you are there for him. It may be hard because I'm sure you are hurt, but don't judge or abandon him.

Kayla..I am sorry to hear about your uncle...but it's not your job to make things better. That's something he must work out - but you can let him know you love him and are there for him. It shouldn't be a responsibility of a Niece to make anything better for an Uncle - just love and comfort.

start out with talking give that a couple months then hangout for a day or two and call me in the morning(just a joke) but ya talking will help alot. if he wont talk then just give him some time also make him feel loved if you have to come out and say the then so be it tell him you love him if that dont work i dont know what will.

treat him just like you did before. He probably feels like he dissapointed you or like let you down. So he doesn't want to hurt you. So just be your self.
