You don't have to change your last name. You decide that after you get married and if you go to Social Security office and put in your name change.

no a woman does not have to change her name, but in Texas if you change your name on Drivers License it say's: First, Maiden name as middle name and then the Married last name. Why wouldnt a woman not be so proud of her husband that she would not change her last name?

Traditionally, the woman changes her last name to her husbands, but there is no law that means you have to when you get married.

It does not have to, but I think that it should unless she is well known by her prior name. Hyphenating is also a possibility. Or she could go by her prior name but in real life sign and be referred to as prior name-married name on paper.

No, of course not. It's completely optional. It's traditional, but it's not mandatory. If I ever choose to get married, I'm keeping my own last name — AFTER they pinpoint whatever chemical imbalance made me agree to marriage.

It's the cultural norm, but it's not required, many women keep their maiden name, others opt to change theirs, and then there are the one's who take both names.

no, but most women do because it's part of two becoming one, you share everything, including the name, plus it makes things a lot less complicated when you have kids
