Go with Mitsubishi...Do your maintance on time,You wont have any problems..Mitsubishi is not making cars to practice...They do have relaible engines, Hyundai used to share the same engines with Mitsu anyways...My family owns 4 mitsubishis...We never had a problem so far with 120,000 miles on the Diamante. All others are good so far with 50k and 30k miles on it...Mitsubishi has a great Warrenty. Eclipse is a great car and cool looking..Go for it...

Mitsubishi's have never been known to have good motors. I believe that their 95-97 eclipses had a condition called crank walk. Where the crankshaft had to much thrust, moving the internals around all over the place.

I wouldnt go with either of the car choices that you have. Honda/Nissan/Toyota have very good motors and are very reliable.

motor care and the purchase of a vehicle has a lot to do with how much knowledge you have about your maintainence schedules and how sensibly you drive your car,the main reason that people think that some cars are better than others is basically how much you are willing to spend and care for what you have, many people do not even frisk their maintainence manual for their car and end up paying for very expensive repairs ,so knowledge is key to purchase and keeping your investment, read consumer report magazine as to what makes you feel comfortable and go from there, good luck.
