I was looking for a cd crack, curiously( and obviously paying now), just for some music software, and I aquired this annoying program that sends ip's all over the place to make it difficult to surf the net now without some virus warning to pop up everytime I click on IE. I still have VirusBurster on my puter, Norten doesnt do poop, when i restart in safe mode Norten dissapears. My girlfreind fixed some of teh problem that created alot more of the pop ups, like porn and more virus scan advertisements but isitll have VirusBurster on my computer and it still makes my puter run slow and pop ups to sprout all over. I tried Spyhunter, and AVG and non seems to work still. How do i know that some of the suggestions givin on these forums about this virus/trojan are legit answers and not by even those who create virus as a lure to install their own software?

You got a whole bunch of stuff that was installed by a Smitfraud Trojan. Some of the other progams listed in answers claim they can remove Smitfrauds. I do not know if they can and will not tell you not to try them. They could do it for you.

I do know that these two sites are specifically designed for Smitfraud removal. I also know they work. So, if you try the other programs and they don't remove it then use these site(s).

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Virusbursters is a rogue program that is installed by a trojan called Zlob. Zlob infects a computer and starts generating warning messages in hopes of scaring users into buying Virus Bursters. Download SpyNoMore to scan your PC, it is very effective against the Zlob trojan.

By the way it is not free, but then again you should really question any so-called free solution. Isn't that how your computer got infected in the first place?!. The free scan will only check your system and show you the infections. If you choose to remove them, be prepared to pay.

I am sending you instructions on how to remove virusburst be carefull if you go for manual removal. Info as follows:-

VirusBuster Removal Instructions

VirusBuster General Description:
VirusBuster, also known as VirusBurst, is a rogue anti-spyware program that displays fake warning messages in order to trick the user into purchasing the software. VirusBuster alleges to remove spyware but instead it installs a trojan that pops up deceptive advertisements that resemble security messages. VirusBuster may change the Internet Explorer default home page and redirect the web browser to malicious web sites.

Your best defense to remove VirusBuster, or any other spyware, is to quickly detect and delete VirusBuster processes, registry keys, DLL files, and other hazardous VirusBuster files from your computer. Click here to manually uninstall VirusBuster using "Add/Remove Programs" in your PC. (In safe mode press F8 on bootup)

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
