i tried going under system preferences and editing the things about what to do with a blank cd, but it still ejects it. i have a Mac OS X if you want to know

Hi Luke...if this an Intel Mac you have a defective optical drive as others have been experiencing this as well (see below link). You will need to contact Apple to have it repaired through their warranty program.

ejects the cd because it can't read the cd so it is spiting it back out at you and it's trying to tell you that there is nothing on it you have to go and go put something on it like a program or music on it so it can read the cd

Are you sure that you have a CD Writer (CDR or CDRW)? If its just a CD reader, it can't do anything with a blank disc and will eject it.
