I sent a very important letter to Leeds today, then I realised the postcode was wrong. The rest of the address was ok. Should I stiil fully expect it to reach the destination? How important is the postcode?

I think it will get there, but late.
I received a letter in the post which has got sent to the wrong place. It looks like it someones driving licence, the postcode on the letter is my postcode, but the house no. is wrong. i think they send letters by postcode now rather than by house number. but i have sent it back to the sender though so it should get to its destination eventually :)

I wouldn't rely on it, although it should do. The best thing is to ring the addressee on Monday or Tuesday and ask if it's arrived. They'll understand.
Next time if a letter is really important, send it by Special Delivery. That will guarantee delivery by noon next day and you can go online to verify that it got there.
Also, always put your own address on the back of the envelope so that it can be returned to you if it goes astray.

The postcode is quite important, hopefully it should get there eventually though, it depends on who gets it first and what they decide to do with it.

It depends on the employee at post office I think. I was sending mail to this one company on a regular basis for years and out of the blue I received return mail because I got one digit in the zip code wrong. I guess I've been lucky all that time.

I hope everything goes well for you.

If your letter doesn't get there. They will send it back to you. I think the postcode is important.

If it's just the postcode that's wrong, it should get there fine.

Maybe. It depends on how the mailman/postman feels that day. I have left off apartment and suite numbers and have had mail returned.
