My daughter is 6 months 1 week old, I have been breastfeeding from the very first day, and other than a little baby food twice a day breastmilk is all she eats, no formula. Lately I've been getting extremely bad headaches, and when I take a shower, I guess from the hott water I start getting dizzy, and I feel like I'm going to vomit and pass out. Those are the exact same symptoms I was having right when I first found out I was pregnant with her. I still have not had a period since she was born. I make a little mental note and I can remember when we have intercourse so I took a pregnancy test to see if I could be pregnant, since enough time had gone by to even be possible to get a positive. So I guess what im asking is if you are pregnant but still breastfeeding, does that throw your hormones out of whack and make it possible to be pregnant but still getting a negative result?

Breastfeeding shouldn't have any effect on the results of a PG test. If you think it's been far enough since you had sex to show up on the test, then it's probably really negative.

Even if you haven't had a period yet, you should probably start using some other method of birth control now if you don't want to get PG. Breastfeeding CAN be as effective as condoms for birth control but only if ALL the following conditions are met: baby is less than 6 mos old, mom's period hasn't returned, baby is exclusively breastfed. Since you don't meet all those conditions, you might consider doing something else for BC now. You'll ovulate BEFORE you bleed, so you could get PG before you ever see a period.

Feeling dizzy in the hot water could be related to blood pressure or maybe anemia.

(And you CAN breastfeed all the way through a pregnancy and tandem nurse the siblings. Many moms do have supply problems while PG, but some don't have problems at all.)

You should definitely get into see the Dr. I got pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding my 4 mo old. I had just started having a cycle again the month before and then the next month I didn't again. Thats how I knew to take a test. Your Hcg levels may not have been high enough to register maybe, or you are just tired and overworked from a new baby. Either way a dr. is your best choice for an answer!

I'm not sure about the hormones, but my husband's aunt got pregnant TWICE while breastfeeding so she has 3 boys VERY close in age. Go to your doctor for a blood test.

best thing to do would be go to the dr.s and get a blood test done.. you can get prego while breast feeding!! i know several people who have.. if you are doing an at home test it may come up negative cuz your hormones are all ready out of whack from having the baby and breast feeding..

You should still get a positive result *if* enough time passed since it happened.
You should see your doctor about your symptoms because those are not normal sounding even if you're breast feeding.

What I know is that women who breastfeed does not get pregnant immediately. I have friends who breastfeed for a year they told me it prevented them from getting pregnant and it really did. As in your case of getting dizzy I think you have to see your doctor. You might be low blood and he will give you the proper medication

Sounds like you might be dehydrated. Your hormones fluctuate when you are breastffeding even though you don't get period you can still get pregnant.

You can definitely get pregnant while you're breastfeeding. In fact, that is when you're most fertile. If you're really pregnant, you will soon lose your milk and won't be able to breastfeed anymore.

No your not pregnant

I was pregnant at 6mos after my first baby was born and was also breast feeding.

I got pregnant but i think it was because i was feeding my first baby food regularly.
