how many bytes (is that how you spell it?) in mega kilo giga etc.

bit= either 0 or 1 bit is abbreviation of BInary digiT
(actually 0 represents off stage and 1 to represent on stage)
byte= combination of 8 bits
1 killo byte= 1024 bytes
1 mega byte= 1024 killo byte (kb)
1 giga byte= 1024 mega byte (mb)
1 tera byte= 1024 giga byte (gb)

sometimes, on broad we use 1000 to refer instead of 1024. But the actual value is 1024 that is 2 to the power 10 = 2^10= 1024

2 is the base (0 and 1 two digits)

kilobyte = 1000 bytes
mega = 1000000
giga = 1000000000

Oh - and 8 bits in a byte.

Oh again - that's an approximation. Really everything works in powers of 2, so strictly it's 1024 instead of 1000....
