Yes. The United States is a peaceful nation and only goes to war to protect itself or its allies from aggression. Other than to end WWII, the United States has not used its might and power of weapons of mass destruction. The rest of the world does not fear the United States as well.

Because we have signed treaties with many countries limiting the use and production of WMDs (Especially, no first strikes or testing)- the reason it was argued that Iraq had WMDs (Some gases that are considered that were found there by the way) is they have not signed any agreements with other countries to not use them except in specific circumstances.
Relevant Treaties:
Chemical Weapons - US-UK-Russia Biological Weapons Trilateral Statement - March 1975
Nuclear Weapons - Non-Proliferation Treaty - circa 1995\
Check out the link below about nukes-

We GAVE half of those WMDs to Iraq--oh the irony!
Honestly, I think the silence is due to our ignorance. We have a first world country, with power to control much of the world. The US feels the need to control everyone's weapon database, making sure that nukes don't get in the wrong hands.
I find that pathetic since allowing Bush and our government to have any nukes is already too much power.

Because the U.S. is kind of ignorant... we control them and we think that we're the "right" people to have them, and all other countries are bad. We're basically bullies.
