What is the jewelry that I have seen some women in Bollywood movies wear on their forhead? The piece of jewelry is like in the parted part of the hairstyle and on the forhead? What is the meaning of this jewelry?

i'm indian and i have several of these, i'm not sure what the official name is but we call it a "tikka." they're really hard to put on! you make a part in your hair and then lay it over the part (like you said) so that the bottom charm dangles right at your hairline. there is a hook at the opposite end and you can secure it in your hair with bobby pins. sometimes if i have an important event i'll tie black thread to the hook and and put it under my hair and tie it underneath so i don't have to worry about it falling.
it has no specific meaning, but it is just nice jewelry worn at formal events. usually brides will wear a very fancy one. you can probably buy fake (meaning ones with fake diamond) sets for $30 or so at indian stores.

It is called a bindi, and where they are placed on the forehead has different meanings. For example, the red dot inbetween the eyebrows has to do with religion. Where as the red dot on the parting of a woman's hair means that she is married. The jeweled bindi you are referring to is just there for decor purposes, and does not have any significant meaning. Many women wear them on special occassions.
