i had contractions and did not even know i was having them. I went to my doctor and he told me i was in labor. (regular scheduled appointment)
he said its not uncommon for women to not know they are having contractions when labor first starts. good luck to you! i know you must be really excited!!!!

Your OB is monitoring you closely and the Docor is right not to induce to soon. My older son went to 43 weeks, during to very hot summer of 95. I ended up being enduced and having my water broken. Due dates are not an exact science, it's an estimate and as long as there are no signs of distress to the BABY you just have to bide your time. And to answer the real question, my contractions with the first were terrible, horribly painful. With my second contractions were non existant as far as i was concerned, I felt weird and went to the hospital because I wasn't feeeling "right" and I was 6 cm it didnt take long to get to 10.You may be miserable but it's all worth it!

Yep. I was at work and thought I was just having false labor (Braxton-Hicks), because it was just like uncomfortable flutters. I ate supper, finished work, went home at 9 and went to bed at 10PM. At midnight, I woke up with terrible back pain that was coming and going at 10 minutes apart, then threw up, then went to the emergency room and had a baby at 3:20 AM.
I don't know how you know your body will not go into labor on its own. Maybe you are just being skeptical. It will all work out one way or another. Hang in there and it will all be worth it.

Sure that has happened to me with my first born. I spent the whole day shopping and cleaning, then that night I had to go to the hospital and I was in labor. The said I had been in labor all day. Best of luck.

Dear Monica,

When I went into labor I only knew it because my water broke ( a little ) I went to the OBGYN & he said your
4 centimeters diallated get to the hospital, while in the hospital I saw the contractions on the machine that they hook you up to, but I NEVER felt one of them, they ended
up giving me a c-section because I would not fully dialate & they were afraid of my son getting stressed .
I had the c-section & everything worked out fine .
Best fo luck to you & the baby

But I know what you mean about going insane .... that's why i did all those things to try to keep my mind busy. good luck
