Only if you are not worried about what your other company has to say.

It's always easy to get a job when you have a job. Most employers understand that you don't contact the current employment. I wouldn't do it even if it was a second job. The laws do state that they can only ask a few certain questions though. But it's up to you! Even if you tell your first employer you're looking for a second job they may not think it actually is a second job. Why don't do wait until you actually get the second job then tell your first employer. Good luck!

It depends on how you think your present employer would feel about it. Do you think that if they found out that you were looking for another or a second job that it would affect your work environment there? If you want a second job and don't think your employer would mind that's fine, but I would breif your current employer on the situation so that if they call they won't think your leaving and fire you anyway. It's very common to say no to this question of calling your employer. Companies understand that you don't want to lose your job til you have another one, it's common practice.

You may tell the place you are applying to that your current employer does not know you are looking for other jobs. I do most of the hiring for the company i work for, and if people tell us not to contact there current or former employers, we won't even consider their application. In my opinion it looks bad when you don't want a possible employer to contact your previous ones.

As long as you let your present employer know that you are seeking a second job it's okay. Make sure though that they know it's only a second job and not that you are trying to leave one for the other.

I just applied for another job and requested that they Not contact my present employer...Some jobs like you working for them only, and no moonlighting. Your present employer might start treating you in a negative way...

Yes, it is against the law for your present employer to say anything about you as an employee, and it is against the law for the potential employer to ask. All either one can say/ask is whether you work there, and for how long.

Yes..... mostly due to possible future schedule conflicts and the part about being honest and you shouldn't worry about bad references laws are in place about what one employer may say about you to another employer.

Legally you do not have to since you are employed with the company...however, since it's only a 2nd job the reference might be helpful from your 1st job!!! As long as its not going to change your performance in your original job, i say YES! Have them contact for the reference!!!!!!

Yes. Your current employer can't say anything negative about you by law.
