Anyone know of a good sealant of some sort that you use with crafts? Something to create a nice smooth clear layer of protection over a decal I'm placing on plastic.

I've heard of enviro-tex but anyone have other ideas from the craft store?

Here's more details:
I am putting a decal on the plastic seat of a bar stool. I just don't want the decal to peel off after use. So I would like to put some kind of clear sealant on top to keep the decal in place. Thanks!

There are several kinds of sealants available. I would explore at the craft store. Some are painted on; some sprayed. Some are shiny; some matte finished.

Not sure what type of "sealant" you want. "Envirotex Lite" is a two-part *epoxy resin*, so I don't know if it would melt or distort plastic while curing (it gets hot to cure itself).

Depending on how thick you want the sealer to be, you could use a spray or a liquid finish. We use *acrylic* finishes only on polymer clay (which is also a plastic), but don't know how well they'd hold on very smooth plastic if stressed.

There are a number of spray fixatives available for all sorts of media. I've had some good luck with Prismacolor's drawing fixtive--it works pretty good for sealing patinas on metal, as well as charcoal and other drawing media. Or you can go for the cheap fixative alternative--clear Krylon.
