Most states allow a left on red if you're going from one one-way street to another, such that you don't cross any lanes. It's like a right on red since it's relatively safe.

You may check if you state allows it, but most do.

I know where I am (Alberta, Canada) it is legal and as safe as making a right onto a two-way street on a red. That said I would check out the local and/or state/provincal laws, some municipalities have jaywalking laws and some don't and this may be a similiar case.

In California, you can make a left hand turn onto a one way street on a red light ONLY after stopping to be sure that it's safe and only if you are currently on a one way street. (Otherwise you'll be crossing in front of traffic).

Varies from state to state.

In MN, NE, IA (places I've lived), you can turn left FROM a one way ONTO a one way on red IF the traffic is clear.

YMMV.

Depends on which state you live in, I believe. I live in Florida...here, no you can't, It's illegal (although people still do it). However, my boyfriend has lived in other states and he has told me that it is legal in some places. Check with the Department of Motor Vehicles in your state.
