Where do i apply parental controls for my kids. They keep getting pop-ups which they shouldn't see?

Parental control can keep your children from going to blocked web sites, but it will not filter or block pop ups. You need to install a popup blocker on your PC. (There is one included in the free Yahoo Toolbar). You should also scan your PC to be sure that you have no spyware programs on your PC causing the popups. Download and run both Skybot Seek & Destory and Ad-aware SE Pesonal (both free at http://download.com). Run them both to clean the mahcine, then alternate running them about once a week to keep it clean. Because they use different definitions of what is spyware, once may get something the other one missed.

But setting Parental Controls will not block popups.

If you're getting pop-ups, chances are the computer is infected with adware. Run a spyware cleaner, then install the Google Toolbar to block unwanted pop-ups. Or you can try a different Internet Browser like Firefox or IE7. But first things first, run Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad-Aware SE to get rid of the garbage.

Parental controls won't do anything for limiting the type of pop-ups... they pop up no matter what settings you use - you need an anti-popup program or download IE 7, which has one built in.

Well, for starters. Get Firefox, and set it as your default browser. It has a popup blocker, which you might find useful.

guess wat that means, u got spyware... u can get free spyreomer at microsoft.com-its called Defender or u can get 1 on download.com. if u still want parent controls u can get that in internet options in internet explorer or download a program.
