In this order: Gravity's Rainbow, V., The Crying of Lot 49. Loved them, but haven't picked up any of the later books. Intrigued by the conflicting opinions about Against The Day.

If you haven't read any, "Crying" is the obvious place to start, since it is the only short one. Pynchon himself dislikes it and thinks it no good and non-representative, but I think it gives a decent quick intro into many of his themes and his basic style and voice.

_Gravity's Rainbow_: at least 9 or 10 times now. Still keep picking up more patterns in it. _The Crying of Lot 49_: about the same. Still love The Scope - if I could ever find a bar with Stockhausen on the jukebox, that'd be my local for sure.
