Will it be considered abandonment? What does the court consider abandonment? Would he be entitled to my assets. We are currently living in CA. I can't take anymore of him. I'm so glad we don't have any kids. I just want out ASAP. Please give me any info you have experienced. Thanks!

I met him about 15 years ago when I was a teenager. We dated way back then. His family moved out here from where I used to live. I just want to return home and be around my family again. I was an IDIOT for getting married after only dating for 4 months and moving out here. We have been married for about 2 1/2 years.

These are questions to ask an attorney, not posers on Yahoo Answers. I guess the big questions would be how long have you been married, are there assets involved and how do your incomes compare.

BTW, if you're divorcing him and moving out of state because you met some loser on-line that you think you're in love with, go ahead and do the divorce, but don't move.

Probably can if you run off with another man or don't tell anyone you are leaving. But if you filed for divorce I don't think that is called abandonment, just leaving out doing some traveling. Be sure someone knows where you are for all the court proceedings.

File the divorce with this court and THEN you can go anywhere. You are not trapped there & staying would be unhealthy.

But be sure the court knows how to reach you, new phone # address, etc. Or your stbx may file all kinds of crazy motions you'd never be aware of. In fact, YOU better stay in touch with the courts for your own good.

here's a website to post a legal question to attorneys- www.lawguru.com. They answer you by email for free. I used it for my divorce case.

You don't say what kind of assets you have. Since you have no kids and if the assets aren't that much, leave. If they are, it would be wise to talk to a divorce lawyer before doing anything. At least move to another town if you have to.

You'd better ask a divorce attorney for the answer to that. You might not get the correct information on here.

If you have assets, you need an attorney!

Abandonment is leaving your husband before filing a divorce case. If he is jobless and depends on you for support I think he can claim alimony. It also depends upon your nationality and law of your country.
