He's better in the books. Not at all like Sean Bean.

Sharpe is a true legend.
Fantastic stories, a wonderful cast and unafraid to show the dirt. Historically hit and miss but were written for viewing not studying.
Never that big a fan of Sean Bean, even his bottom! But always love Sharpe even the reruns.

Sharpe, Sean Bean ...................sigh
BTW no the character in the books has black hair and comes from London (origionally one of the McGan brothers was going to play the part), but Bernard Corwell has said that since Sean Bean took the role he now thinks about Sharpe as Sean Bean when he writes.

The films and books are great. The character Sharpe was not a real person - just a fantastic character.
