I keep having re-occuring dreams about my ex husband who I've been separated from about 5 years. I am in another marriage and have been for 4 years but I had this dream my ex was getting re-married and he's telling me how happy he is and how he wants to start a family, I attend the wedding and manage to hold it together through the ceromony but when walking back to my car I break down and start crying really really bad and this is exactly how I woke up crying really really bad.

It sounds like you're selfish and don't want him to have any chance of happiness.

Shame on you.

Dreams are always about something that's current in the dreamer's life. If you have a recurrent dream, your unconscious is telling you, over and over, in the best symbols it has, something you need to know and change.

That said, I'd ask how you're going along, trying to hold it together, but really being ready to burst into tears. This could be about anything in your life, not necessarily your marital partners, but about something you've "married" metaphorically. That could be a job or other commitment that you feel you're just barely coping with.

Of course, it could refer to the marriages too, but it's more likely something metaphoric. The uncontrollable crying in the dream might even represent another emotion you're bursting to express.

As with all recurrent dreams, notice when you have the dream. What happened in the preceding 24 hours? You'll start to notice that you only have the dream on nights after a certain emotional state -- maybe after you've been in conflict with someone and pretended everything was okay.

Recurrent dreams STOP when you discover what they're referring to AND you make the necessary changes in your life. Sometimes they stop because you make a change without realizing its relationship to the dream.

It sounds like residual love. You are over him, you know you are over him, you are happy again, but something inside would love it if he pined away for you forever. It could be the residue of the love you once had that you know either is unhealthy or inconvenient to have. At least, that's what it sounds like to me! Good Luck, but if you are happy now...then focus on that.
