Unless the pain is near unbearable and lasting at least 15-20 at a time....no I don't think they are real contractions. Braxton hicks can come on a schedule, it's not unheard of. But it would have to be extremely painful and lasting AT LEAST 15-20 seconds. My cotnractions were 10 minutes apart, but lasted nearly 45 seconds at that point. And yeah, I was dilated to 1 cm for over three weeks and then I dilated to 2 cm and stayed there for another 2 weeks and I was finally induced for being over due. I don't think she needs to go to the hospital. Good Luck though!

if they are painful and strong and within 5-7 i would go to the hospital! if they are sporadic and mild shes most likely not ready but shes prob in the EARLY stages of labor which could even last over a day. just watch the consistency and time of the contractions and she'll know. i labored for 30 hours at home and then when the contractions felt like cramps that were about to kill me and they were 3-5 mins apart i headed to the hospital and I STILL had to walk for 4 horus before i could even get to 8cm dilated (and u need to be 10) i did have my son that night though. So have her start writing down times now.

If her contractions have not gotten any closer together with in 6 hours I would say no she doesn't need to go in yet, and chances are they would send her home again. I was sent home one morning when I went in thinking I was in labor I was about 4cm and you have to be about 5-6 cm for them to keep you. Funny thing was I went back about 3 hours later and gave birth. They sent me home saying I was NOT going to have a baby that day! Contractions that are true are VERY intense and very different than the Braxton Hicks variety. When she can't stand up or there is bloody show when she goes to the bathroom, thats when she is in active labor and they will admit her.

I'm not sure exactly, but I always think the safest thing to do is go to the hospital anyway, especially ten minutes apart....I dont know if real labor pains would have stayed ten minutes apart for six hours straight though.
But when I was pregnant, I went into the hospital three times thinking the baby was coming before they had to finally induce me. They never get upset if you come in and it turns out to just be you freaking out because they tell you at the hospital to come because it's better safe than sorry.

The contractions usually last about 1min. a piece and it is time to go to the hospital when they are 5 min. apart. They probably are just early stages of labor that can last awhile.
If you go back to the hospital and she is still no more dialted they will send her back home. If she just gets so exhausted that she can't handle it any more have her talk to her doctor, maybe he will put her in the hospital and give her some pitocin and help things along faster.
Good Luck.

If she is worried, she should call her doctor, but usually they have women come in when their contractions are 4-5 minutes apart. She should definately go in if her water breaks though, there is risk of infection if the water has been broken for over 24 hours without delivery.

My doctor told me that when the pains are 5 minutes apart, it was time to call. I did that, and I was still in labor for another 12 hours. If the frequency suddenly increases, or if her water breaks, then it's time to get to the hospital.

if she feels like they're contractions I'd go to the hospital and check just incase. They get people coming in all day with false contractions, they dont mind checking. Better safe than sorry. I went to the doctor and was 2cm dialated and had her the next day so go ahead and check.

Usually, a real labor contraction will last almost a full minute, not just a few seconds.
Better safe than sorry though, try the Hospital again, just to be sure.

WAIT TILL THE PAINS ARE 5MIN APART FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR. BECAUSE IF YOU GO TO THE HOSPITAL AGAIN THEY WILL JUST SEND YOU HOME AGAIN.
IF HER WATER BREAKS OR HER MUCAS PLUG COMES OUT SHE STILL HAS HOURS TO GO. SHE IS STILL HAVING BRAXTON HICKS. WHEN SHE IS IN LABOUR THE PAIN WILL BE INTENCE IN HER LOWER BACK AND HER BELLY WILL HARDEN FOR THE DURATION OF HER CONTRACTION.
SHE WILL ALSO HAVE PAIN IN HER BELLY.
WHEN THE PAIN IS SO INTENCE SHE IS GOING CRAZY AND NOTHING HELPS GO .
