Check the battery terminals, Check the alternator connections, Check the charge on the battery, and check the alternator. Also check the condition of you belt tensioner, make sure it's working properly. You should be fine by doing these simple steps.

You will need to take the vehicle to a dealer service department if all the steps above check out okay because the voltage regulator is built into the powertrain control module (computer). Hopefully that's not the case with your vehicle. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Since you did not give the year on the car I can only assume that the car is an older car. I would check the belts on the car. and make sure they are not lose or worn. I would then check the cables going to the battery for any corrosion. if you are still having the problem then you may need to replace the alternator and or battery. If the battery is older then 5 years it should be replaced anyway. Most auto battery's do not last more then 5 years. Especially in cold climates.

Could be a loose or worn belt(they don't always squeal),weak battery,&/or a faulty alternator.Best to let a shop run dignostics
on it(for a small charge) than to trust a parts store use their"black
box." Those things are not that reliable.

Either the battery is shot, and not holding the new charge being generated by the alternator. Or the alternator is shot.

Autozone or similar will check it for free.

I also vote alternator or battery.

Probably battery, though, 'cause when your alternator goes, the car usually dies and coasts to a stop, even if you were just cruising on the hiway, and your description seems to indicate the opposite.

G'luck

Probably either loose or shot cables or battery is about to die. Go get a diagnostic test done on your car so you don't get stuck somewhere and have to pay for a tow or waste a AAA tow.

Most likely needs an alternator. Don't have it checked at Auto Zone and definitely don't buy the parts from there. Their parts are about as good as their advise. Completely useless.
