Aren't there three stories in the Lord of the Rings series? That would be a Ring Trilogy...

a trilogy ring is a diamond ring with three stones, the central stone usually larger than the ones to either side. i have also heard a claddaugh ring being called a trilogy ring, as it stands for faith, hope and loyalty...the "trilogy" of true love. but, if you are talking instead about a "ring trilogy", well, thats Lord of the Rings, by Tolkien for sure!
