I've been in real estate for over a year now and I've only sold 6 houses. It's definitely tough. If you have lived in your area a long time and know a lot of people, that helps a lot. Even so, you spend a lot of money on marketing each month trying to find new clients. If you have enough savings to float for several months before you close your first transaction you should be ok. But see what your local market is doing. Some markets are better than others. I hear Salt Lake City is on the upswing, for instance, but here in northern CA property values are dropping rapidly. I'm questioning whether I can afford to keep doing it myself.
Good luck!

Yes, definately. With the market as it is at this time of year, there will be plenty of time to learn from the veterans. Also, by the time you complete the courses, take your license exam and find an office to work in it will be Mar or Apr. and the spring market will be gearing up. This is my first full year and I did my first million by Apr. 10 and have had a very busy year.
Good Luck

Nope. It's a terrible time. Housing sales are at their lowest point in several years.
It's a brutal career even when the market is good. No income for months at a time.
If you do start, keep a waiting job or something to pay your bills while you get going.

It is ALWAYS a good time! It all depends on how well and effective you are in marketing yourself!!! If you are doing it right, there will NEVER be a bad time for you! I guarantee you, it's ALL about effective marketing!
What, it's not a good time because business is no longer falling on their lap and now they actually have to LOOK for business? People are ALWAYS buying....ALWAYS!
Do extensive research on marketing strategies. You'll see, there's no better day than today!
