If you know enough about the computer you want, I would definitely suggest going to eBay. Often you can look at the manufacturers websites (Dell, Toshiba, Gateway, etc.) to find the specs and then look for that on eBay. I just purchased a laptop on eBay and saved about 20% off the lowest price I could find on the web.

If you have any electronical expertise, go to www.Newegg.com and by each part. It is much cheaper to buy the parts and build it. If not, scrounge around garage sales and such. It doesn't take much to buy a computer that can burn cd's.

Always shop around in local circuit city/best buy stores for the cheap HP Compaq PC's for about $399, however for online options

Personally I'd go to Dell.com, they have the best computers (they would be my preference) but if you want one really cheap i cant really help you there, unless you get a basic dell

You might as well get it for christmas since you might have not missed it.
