watched black hawk down it is my best film of all time i can say proudly i have watched it atleast 25 times

saw the first 40mins and thought it was one of the best movies ever made haven't seen the rest yet but plan to.
I'm a big fan of Apocalyse Now and Full Metal Jacket though-Dont think I'm alone their either.

The film itself is very good, however, it is rather Gung Ho American patriotism.... what I mean by that is... the Americans got absolutely slaughtered (bad word I know... but true) in the fire fight that ensued... it was the turning point for them to get out of Somalia... so not quite the 'victory' it portrays... But still a good film!!!
dkiller88 - nothing wrong with patriotism, nothing at all... but you were not actually fighting in the USof A. And yes, if the 'skinnys' as you describe them decided to invade the UK, I would be as willing as the next man to defend the country. However, if I recall the US actually went all the way to Somalia to defeat a warlord who since became the 'President' of that country. And I really am sorry for the families and friends of the 19 Americans who died. Any death of any serviceman in a war situation (or any other) is a tragedy... and as an ex-soldier I'm very aware of he loss of friends etc. (So I have the tee-shirt too)... as for 2000 skinnys dead.. very possible... but still a turning point in US military history... one that reversed the decision to 'go in' in the first place. And Gung ho.. it is gung ho, just as the film 'A Bridge too far' about Arnhem in WW2 is in the UK... a strategic fubar Montgomery Plan. Just to let you know... I still enjoy the film and your special services guys... (not as good as the SAS/SBS :0 ) performed their duties unselfishly and brilliantly.

I've seen it 3 or 4 times, and am planning on watching it as soon as it's on TV again. Good film.

Boring Old Fart- you think those Rangers got "slaughtered"? 19 of them died, compared to close to 2000 skinnies. Who got slaughtered? And what is wrong with patriotism? What is wrong with proudly serving your country, of standing between you grabastic civilians and those who would burn your house down and screw you to death?
By the way- I really enjoyed the movie, but I thought the book was better

It's not a bad film... I've seen it a few times but i prefer Buffalo Soldiers... That is more realistic and has a great sound track.
If you haven't seen it i highly recommend it :)

Read the book too! One of my favourite movies, with a highly realistic portrayl of modern urban combat.

it is class but much betta army film is saving private ryan
