Pedophilia is a sexual orientation on minors 4 yrs old to just under puberty; Ephebophilia is a sexual orientation on pubescents and young teens; Infantophilia is a sexual orientation on infants and toddlers; Gerontophilia is a sexual orientation on the elderly. These are pschological terms, not crimes. "Statutory Rape" is a crime where the victim is "too young" to give consensual sex. The state decides who is "too young" or not for such a crime to exist. This means that a man who fantasizes about a 10-year old girl in the other side of the park may be a pedophile, but hasn't committed any crime at all. And a man who has sex with a 10-year old girl may not be a pedophile, but surely has "statutorily raped" her. Moreover, sex with a 14-year old, for instance, will only be Statutory Rape depending on what state or country you're in.

Not quite sure what the question is but I do think it interesting that yu have sought to draw people's attention to the differences and distinctions. The media has done an excellent job of demonising all so called child abusers through the generic tem paedophile - and in doing so have created (as they usually do) a modern bogeyman and all crimes are reported in rabid terms of predatory paedos or similar...often ignoring the fact that the victims are often teenagers 15 who have clearly understood and taken on board the sexual role that they can occupy. Yep may be wrong, yep as some say may be ****** up but hang on a second - having distinctions is useful in order to determine potential risk to potential victims. Clearly a girl of 15 who knows exactly wehat she is doing is les of a "victim" than a 3 year old or a 10 year old. Also social context is important - the sexy schoolgirl has been promulgated as accepted imagery for a long long time - think britney Spears, sexualisation of teens and tweens is also acceptable and then to condem people for even daring to fantasise or think a dirty thought - well to me that seem s pretty hypocritcial and screwed up....

I think that everyone knows that pedophilia and all the other *philias are conditions not crimes. But the crime does begin with the condition.
Don't forget that there are other ways to molest a child. Most child molesters start by cultivating a relationship with a child. Like with conversation enciting suggestive thoughts, ( sort of like dipping sh*t in chocolate to make it appealing! ) or exposing children to inappropriate "Art", etc. Those things are a crime, even if there wasn't physical contact.... Yet.

There are many things that are not a crime unless the thought is acted upon. Why you would even talk about pedophilia, a condition that disgusts and sickens most people, is beyond me. Anyone who would molest a child should be castrated (depending upon their sex) and locked up forever. I don't think therapy can help someone who has this orientation.

True, the condition itself is not a crime - but acting upon it is.

Thanks for the breakdown of various stages - I never knew all those terms before. No matter what it's called, it's still F***ed up, tho!

Whooaaa.. thats a weird thing to bring up. Funny thing is not too long ago girls were getting married and having children at the age of 13. BUT todays social structer, children are "innocent" and are unaware of life.. etc. Anyone who takes advantage of ANY young woman, regarless of age should see the chair, and I don't mean a comfortable one. In other words child molestors, please die in violence.

It is also aggressive sexual battery, as well as sexual battery of a child, as well as sexual battery of a minor.

Fantasies are legal....acting on them is barbaric, evil, and thankfully illegal.

Are you a child molester? What reason could you have in defending the rapers of children?
Apologizing for the lowest of the low scumbags is sick and wrong
May you never have children if you do I fear for their safety
seek help please before you hurt a child , if you haven't already
