a99blkdog is right. The Ford 8N tractors had a positive ground so connect it to the frame. Some older cars ran off 6V and had a positive ground, too! There were even 12V versions like this. People would try to install a normal negative ground car stereo and it would make sparks fly.

frame. its a positive ground 6 volt dont believe the dopes who say solinoid. I have a 1952 8n. its the best.. i wish it had 12 volts .. i have a bushog and scraper blade.

Becareful most of these are postive ground but alot of people have converted them over the years... originally postive ground

Go to the frame...those were reveres wired. If I am not mistaken you could go to the selinoid but it would start and run backwards

6V, positive ground system. If you hook it up as negative ground, it will burn out your battery, voltage regulator, or generator, or all three.
