I normally use Yahoo. I rarely use Google. I think Google gives things slightly different, but some times it's like the result you get is pages of (like 1-3 or 1-5) pages from the same website.
I also like to use Yahoo for a dictionary or end up on Wiki researching,.. but Wiki is unreliable now so Yahoo! wins that.
Yahoo has more services and less annoying black and white advertisement which others may mentally block out but it's there.

and yahoo is only the 3rd

Because then I always have an option.
If I can't find it on yahoo, I may find it on Google and visa versa.
