Set up Yahoo, gMail or any simular address that can beaccessed from nearly any hotel/motel or dial up service. Make sure your computer has the capability to do this, and learn how to change your computer to the hotel/motel's setup. Check with whatever before you leave.

Many hotels have free internet access with one or more computers ready for you to use usually in an area near the lobby. Some charge for computer use. If your hotel doesn't have this, ask at the hotel for a business nearby where you can access the internet.

Email is web based. You can access it from the internet, regardless of state.
