There's no evidence to prove that this is effective.
Motherhood is NOT a contest to see who can get their baby to sleep through the night the fastest. I know you're tired and want more sleep, but you have to give it time and try to sleep when the baby sleeps (it took me a month or so to really get that into my thick skull! ) It's VERY important to sleep when you can b/c sleep deprivation can lead to temporary psychosis!

No!
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time, but 2 months is too young for solids, and this would increase the chance that she develops food allergies.
You should wait until she is at least 4 months, preferably closer to 6 months, before giving her solid food.
Also, most experts advise against cereal in the bottle. There is no scientific evidence that it helps babies sleep. Some moms swear by it, but it could be that their baby was just going to start sleeping better at the same age as when they tried it.
Probably your baby will go back and forth between sleeping longer and having bad nights, no matter what you do. But the awful newborn schedule you're on now will get better in a few more weeks. It really does get easier after the baby is 12-14 weeks old.

I've always been told NOT to put the cereal in the bottle because it could cause the poor dear to overeat, and I've heard of babies throwing up all their food because of this. :(
A 2 month old still needs to be fed in the middle of the night because of how much it's growing. In no time you can sleep all night again, but for now I'd continue to get up and feed the baby.
Oh, and by the way, I just read Vicki's response and I TOTALLY agree with what she said!! I did that 3 hour routine and I had to WAKE my baby up once a night to feed her cause she was still too young to sleep through the night without food. Needless to say, but the time she was three months she was sleeping through the night and still is at almost 2 years old! The three hour routine is a GOD SEND and everyone I talked to about it agrees! If you want more info on the routine, check out the book "Babywise". It's the best thing for parents to read.

It's too early. You might not need to wait until she's 6 months old, but at least till she's 4. Giving cereal is not necessarily a remedy for a good night sleep - we are trying that now with our 4 months old son and that's not helping (and I head our case is not the only one of that nature). There are some breastfeed babies who sleep through the whole night, and some formula or solid food fed that wake up every 2-3 hours to sleep. This is very individual... I would suggest to do your best, but not over-force it. Good luck!

You really shouldn't try to feed a 2 month old cereal yet. Her little system is still growing, and formulas are specially designed for her to digest... Cereal isn't. But... Try giving her more formula at night. If she tries to doze off as you're feeding her, tickle her cheek and it should trigger her rooting reflex and keep her eating. But, if you can really fill her up, it should get you an extra hour or two of sleep at a time. Sleeping through the night is something that takes time with some babies, but just try to be patient.

Cereal won't help her sleep at this age. Try putting her on a 3 hour routine during the day. Pick a time to start in the morning (I always started at 7am) the routine should look like this - eat, play, sleep - and this will continue all day long
(say 7am,10am,1pm,4pm,7pm,10pm, ) then let her sleep as long as she will at night. You will notice that baby will stretch the sleeping at night into longer periods until she is sleeping 8-9 hours. Try it for a couple of weeks keeping it consistent and you will notice a difference.
These early days are hard but both you and baby will benefit from a good routine and flexible schedule.
happy baby!

A 2 month old can not handle cereal. His body is not ready for anything other than formula or breastmilk. He could develop cramps, skin issues and be up crying from tummy issues.
Your baby maybe waking up to be with you. Get a co-sleeper and have the baby sleep next to you. When the baby sleeps during the day, you sleep. Have someone help you during the day so you can catch up on sleep.
Your baby could be getting sleep or getting ready for a milestone. My babies always slept bad before they did something new.
Good luck and soon this will pass.

Your doctor already answered this question.
Solids (and cereal counts!) should not be started until closer to 6 months of age. They can't digest it until around then.
Starting too early can also lead to an increased chance of allergies, diabetes and obesity.
Cereal should never be given in a bottle, but offered instead on a spoon. The ONLY exception is under a doctor's orders for a child with reflux.
Your child's eating and sleeping habits sound very normal. She is trying to double her birthweight by 6 months, which is a big job that requires eating around the clock.
Sleep when she sleeps. Nap with her if you can. Bring her into bed with you so you'll both get more sleep. Try feeding a little more often during the day and see if that helps her change her nighttime pattern any.

No! You should not give your baby Cereal In the bottle at 2 months, The infant is to small w/ very small lungs to diagest something like that. Listen I did it to my baby and she was crying more becuase what happens is they then have a hard time pooping(lol) and that puts a strain on there body then you will really not sleep at night or day, neither will the baby! Trust me on this one I have now 3 kids and yes I woke up a million times a night but thats part of having a infant nobodyy ever said it was easy! just wait another 2-3 weeks the baby will be just fine on it's own.. Goodluck, sweetie

There are some people that do it, but be aware that doctors strongly advise against it. One problem is the increased risk of food allergies that may not show up for several months or even later. So, you may feed the cereal thinking that there is no harm and then the problem shows up way down the road. Try to find another way to get more sleep. Ask for help from friends or family. I hope you are not trying to raise this child by yourself. Don't be afraid to keep asking for help. Good luck.
